Support our 2017 Annual Campaign

In the past year, did you attend Concerts at the Creek, or Practice in the Prairie yoga? Did you bring your preschooler to Trail Trekkers, or attend a backyard chickens workshop? Did your child attend a school field trip at the Nature Center?

Attendance has tripled because we’re offering programs, experiences and features that friends like you have said you want from your nature center. But as Iowa’s only non-profit nature center, we need your help to support this growth!

We ask you to kindly consider a gift of $50, $100, $250 or an amount of your choosing to Indian Creek Nature Center’s 2017 Annual Campaign. Your gift will ensure we can offer all the wonderful experiences, events, and programs you love, while protecting and restoring 500 acres of beautiful land for our entire community to enjoy, free of charge.

Thank you, in advance, for your generosity – and for being a part of Indian Creek Nature Center’s growth and success. We appreciate you!

Make sure to donate before midnight on December 31 to receive tax benefits for 2017!

Why should I give?

It’s been an incredible year for Indian Creek Nature Center. Exciting new programs like Farm to Table dinners provide an incredible experience while showcasing our local, sustainable food system; and the Practice in the Prairie yoga series gave hundreds of people access to free outdoor yoga classes all summer long. We have also seen a renewed strength in some of our core events — school field trips, the Maple Syrup Festival, summer camps and Nature’s Noel.

Indian Creek Nature Center hosted field trips for over 4,000 children from 83 different schools in 2016-2017 alone! The upcoming school year has already been booked with even more schools, including several schools that have never visited us before. Our brand new outdoor play area, Hazelnut Hideaway, opened to the public in September. Since then, we have had the privilege of watching children running through the woods to climb into the shelter of a tipi, and marveling at the way an old-fashioned water pump pulls water from a well in the ground. Adults smiling at all the novel things their children are discovering: the way mud feels in your hands, and the beauty of a piece of oak split to create a balance beam.

During #GivingTuesday this year, we raised $4,890, which will connect 150 preschool students to nature through our FREE Trail Trekkers program and Creekside Critters field trips. This generous gift will help create childhood memories and #getkidsoutside. But, we still need your help!

Think about all the ways you have enjoyed Indian Creek Nature Center. The trails, the prairie labyrinth, the amphitheater; the Backcountry Film Festival, Monarch Fest, or a visit to Hazelnut Hideaway nature play area — no matter your favorite way to engage, your gift ensures we can continue to offer all these great programs and more.
