Cedar Greenbelt celebrates 40 years!

 

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the purchase of the Center’s land. It was part of an initiative to keep flood-prone land undeveloped, and therefore protect property from damage.

And this year, you can surely see why that was a good idea. The Nature Center came along five years later, and we’ve been going strong ever since. (That picture is of a whole lot of debris left behind by this year’s… fun spring. This is what we get as the water, which was prolific this year, recedes.

 (As an aside: the fact that the flood waters have mostly receded means that all of you who were kept off the Sac and Fox trail these last few weeks can head back out! Wear shoes that can get muddy, because we have a wealth of it!)
