Omar Salinas was born and raised in Texas and grew up in the border town of Pharr. He moved to Iowa to throw Shot put and Hammer at Mount Mercy University where he earned a Bachelors of Science in outdoor conservation and is currently working on an M.B.A. During his undergraduate he interned at Prairiewoods under the land steward there. After graduating he worked for Linn County Conservation as a Natural Resource aid for the North Cedar District. When he isn’t at work he enjoys sports, the outdoors, walks with his dog and cooking.
