Jean Wiedenheft started as a volunteer at the Nature Center, helping with scout workshops and spreading wood chips on the trails. She’s been a full-time employee since 2001, sharing her enthusiasm for nature and sustainability with volunteers and visitors. Jean was the project manager for Amazing Space, a building recognized by the International Living Future Institute for its leading edge sustainable design. She is currently working to transition Etzel Sugar Grove Farm to a 100 percent organic operation. In 2021 she served on the City of Cedar Rapids Advisory Committee for the Community Climate Action Plan, and she serves on the Linn County Roadside Advisory Committee. When she’s not at the Nature Center, she enjoys horseback riding, writing, and walking in the woods.
