The Fresh Air Academy (K-3rd Grade)
The Fresh Air Academy at Indian Creek Nature Center is a drop-off immersive nature experience for children ages K-3rd grade. Children will go on learning adventures with experienced ICNC educators. Educators will develop seasonally appropriate themes to guide the day, but the children will determine the specifics of their time at the Nature Center. Children will explore and learn both as a multi-age group and in smaller age-based groups. Perhaps in small groups children will learn about density by testing what floats in the wetland and what sinks? Or maybe the day is spent learning about the importance of shelter and all of the children work together to build their own shelter in the woods? Children will spend ample time outdoors exploring and learning at the Nature Center’s 200-acre classroom.
These are drop-off programs. Registration is required and no walk-ins will be accepted. Capacity is limited to 10 students per session. Sessions are a total of 15 days spread out over several weeks. Children will come to the nature center from 12:30-3:30pm on session days.
Programs will be outdoors in all weather and families should dress their children for the conditions. Indoor alternatives are available if the weather is inclement or dangerous.
