DESCRIPTION:Participants will create a 5-7 foot tall tower with woven sides and twining spirals that join at the top. Put your tower to work in your summer garden as a support for beans or cucumbers\, clematis\, or sweet peas. Then\, repurpose it as a “tree” decked with twinkly lights for the winter holidays. \nThis is a very physical class. Participants should be comfortable working on the floor and on their knees\, crawling\, bending\, and stooping. Good hand\, finger\, and arm strength are a must. Gloves may be worn for hand protection. Adults only\, please. \nMaterials: Please bring small\, very sharp hand pruners\, sharp garden loppers\, hammer\, lunch\, snacks\, and beverage. DESCRIPTION:Lace up your snow boots to join a small group of adventurers for a guided night hike. The ICNC prairie and woodland trails will be lit by the light of the full moon\, but you’ll also want to bring a flashlight or headlamp\, just in case of cloud cover. Night hikers will explore some of our favorite spots on the property. Encounters with wildlife are sure to occur!\nHikers should dress for the weather and wear snow boots. Children are welcome\, including babies in carriers. (Strollers not recommended). Friendly dogs on leashes are also welcome.  \nFee: $5 Members $10 Nonmembers.  \nPre-registration is required as spots are limited.  These hikes do fill and walk-ins can not be accepted if the program has reached capacity.

DESCRIPTION:This full-day workshop explores the craft of nature and wildlife photography from macro to landscapes to wildlife behavior. Participants will learn how to see compositions more clearly\, understand what makes an image work\, and recognize common pitfalls. We will also look at how human nature influences our choices in post-processing and how to create images that remain authentic and compelling. The day includes both field time and classroom review\, making it a strong program for all skill levels.\nAbout the presenter: Donald Quintana is a professional nature and wildlife photographer\, conservation visual storyteller\, and educator based in Cedar Rapids. His work has been recognized by National Audubon and Nature’s Best Photography and has appeared in exhibits and publications nationwide. Donald leads boutique photography tours throughout the U.S. and internationally\, and he specializes in helping photographers deepen their field skills\, artistic voice\, and understanding of ethical photography practices.  \nSpace is limited.  $140/Nonmembers; $125/Members.
