Sweet Trail Run at Honey Fest

Honey Fest and the Sweet Trail Run are cancelled for 2016. We are excited to resume the event on Saturday, September 16, 2017!

Join us for the area’s premier trail run! Held during the Nature Center’s annual Honey Fest, the Sweet Trail Run offers families, kids and seasoned runners alike an opportunity to enjoy a healthy activity outdoors. Race distance varies each year. All paid participants receive an exclusive t-shirt, goody bag, and free admission to Honey Fest.

Participant Information and FAQ

Please note that for those who do not register in advance by 5 p.m. on Monday, September 7, the registration fee will increase for each participant by $5, and T-shirts are not guaranteed. All participants must sign a waiver to participate – this is taken care of electronically when you register online. You can download and read a copy of the waiver below.

What is the race route, and where is the start/finish line?

The start line is the same as the finish line, in the parking lot of Indian Creek Nature Center. We will guide you to the start during packet pick up the day before or day of the trail run.

Can you explain the course surface?

The course consists of approximately 1.8 miles of mostly wooded single track trails. The start and finishing stretches, totaling less than a mile, open up on a lime chipped surface (Sac and Fox Trail) and close through the prairie habitat with the ability for double and triple track wide (cross country style) variable terrain.

Where is Parking?

Due to limited parking at the Nature Center, race parking is located in the parking lot of A Touch of Class event center, at the corner of Bertram and Mount Vernon roads.
The address is 5977 Mt Vernon Rd SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
Parking is free and a shuttle will bring runners to the Nature Center, only ¾ of a mile down the road.
The shuttle will be available from 9:30 AM-2 PM. Come enjoy Honey Fest early and pick up your packets the day before the race so you can enjoy the festivities.

Is there a minimum age to register for the trail run/walk?

Everyone is welcome. If you are bringing a family, enjoying as an individual or just out for another day on the trails, we want you to enjoy the route at your own pace at any age.

Are baby joggers or dogs allowed on the course?

Due to the natural terrain and occasional narrow passages of the trails at Indian Creek Nature Center, neither baby joggers/strollers nor dogs are allowed at the event.
However, participants of all ages ARE allowed – please feel free to use a carrier for your child if they are too young to walk the course! This is meant to be an experience for new and veteran trail users, but know that there is some challenging terrain along the way. Always take things at your own pace.

I’m injured and cannot participate, will there be a refund?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds. While we understand that not all registrants will be able to attend this trail run/walk, your entry fee will support the mission of Indian Creek Nature Center!

Will the race be cancelled or delayed?

The trail run/walk may be delayed up to one hour due to severe weather decided by race officials at 9am the morning of Honey Fest. Severe weather is defined as either a thunderstorm warning, tornado watch, tornado warning or if lightning is present in the area. We’ll race rain or shine if the conditions are safe and no severe weather is present or predicted.

Can I change from runner to walker status?

Yes! Simply request this status change at registration, or by calling 319-362-0664 before the race. No refunds are issued for the difference between runner and walker registration, however.

Will medical assistance be available?

Yes, Linn Area Ambulance will be on standby notice during the duration of the race.
