SUMMER NATURE CAMP PRESCHOOL PROGRAM-POLLIWOGS AND PARENTS:NOCTURNAL NEIGHBORS(for children aged 3-6)-(two sessions)9AM-10AM or 11AM-12N--MEMBER:$4; NONMEMBER:$5; SERIES:MEMBER:$20; NONMEMBER:$25--Put on your pajamas and join us for fun "nightly" adventures! Find out which creatures are active in the night and what helps them survive while we are asleep. Listen to a story and become part of a nighttime chorus. (Program repeated on August 3rd). SUMMER CAMP-MONDAY NIGHT MINI-CAMP: NIGHT LIFE AT THE NATURE CENTER(for children entering 1st-4th grades; parents may, but are not required to, attend with their children)--7PM-9PM--MEMBER:$5/CHILD, $3/PARENT; NONMEMBER:$8/CHILD, $4/PARENT--Explore the woods to discover the mammals, insects and amphibians that sing, howl, chirp or squeak in the night. Use sound, light and a secret bait to attract night life. CALL 362-0664 TO REGISTER BY 4 PM ON THE FRIDAY BEFORE EACH CAMP. |

| PUBLIC PROGRAM-REAL (Retired Engaged Adult Learners) WALKS: SUMMER BUZZING WITH BEES-9:30 AM-MEMBER:$3-NONMEMBER:$4-Visit our apiary and discover what's going on with the Nature Center's honeybees. Discuss issues facing all pollinators, including our native pollinators. Learn what you can do to help. Coffee and conversation afterwards. | SUMMER CAMP-NEW! YOUNG NATURALISTS: BE AN AMATEUR ARCHEOLOGIST(for children entering 3rd-6th grades)--9AM-3PM--MEMBER:$20; NONMEMBER:$25--Spend the day discovering what an archeologist does! Practice your infestigative techniques as you learn American Indian skills and how to recognize artifacts, play authentic games, participate in a dig and try your hand at crafts and hunting skills using an atlatl. Hike to nearby sites while learning about the cultures that lived along the Cedar River. Bring a sack lunch. (Program repeated on July 2nd) CALL 362-0664 TO REGISTER. |
| PUBLIC PROGRAM-BLACK-LIGHTING FOR BUGS-8 PM-MEMBER ADULT:$4; NONMEMBER ADULT:$6; MEMBER CHILD:$2; NONMEMBER CHILD:$4--Explore the world of night-flying insects, many of whom are rarely seen in daytime. Particpants will learn how to set up and use a black light to attract moths, beetles and various aquatic insects. Learn about lifecycles and insects' importance in the overall environment. Learn about water plants and animals. Come prepared to get wet (and a little muddy) as we use nets to learn about who and what calls this habitat "home". (Program repeated on August 17th). | PUBLIC PROGRAM-BEAT THE HEAT!-7 AM-MEMBER ADULT:$5; NONMEMBER ADULT:$7--The prairie in August is beautiful but HOT! Join us for an early morning stroll to enjoy flowers, birds, and fast-growing, heat-loving prairie grasses while they are in their prime. Coffee and bagels served afterwards. | CREEKSIDE CONCERT-REUNION-7:30 PM - Enjoy a mix of fiddle tunes, original compositions and traditional songs with Deb Hunemuller on fiddle and Pete Kies on guitar. This acoustic duo create a dynamic and enjoyable blend of familiar and not-so-familiar songs. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and a picnic basket with your favorite snacks and beverages and join us on the lawn for an old fashioned hoedown. Tickets are $5/M, $8/NM, $1 Children 5-12.
