PUBLIC PROGRAM-REAL (Retired Engaged Adult Learners) WALKS: MIGRATING MONARCHS-9:30 AM-MEMBER:$3-NONMEMBER:$4--The magic and mystery of the annual monarch butterfly migration has begun! Join us to discover what's happening and to catch and tag monarchs traveling through the Nature Center's prairie. Coffee and conversation follow. CREEKSIDE CONCERT-DEEP DISH DIVAS-7:30 PM -The Deep Dish Divas serve up an eclectic blend of time-tested tunes, sweet songs, tasty licks and wholesome harmonies. Deb Hunemuller plays fiddle and really knows how to shake an egg! Carrie Kriz adds bass and flute to the mix and Karen Pierce holds it all together on the guitar and hammered dulcimer. It will surely be a savory evening that you won't want to miss. Bring a lawn chair and your favorite snacks and beverages and join us on the lawn for an evening of good family fun. Learn about the monarch and how it will soon migrate to Mexico! Play a game to discover the many obstacles it faces on its long journey.

PUBLIC PROGRAM-BASIC BACKYARD CHICKEN WORKSHOP-MEMBER:$7-NONMEMBER:$10-Interested in keeping backyard chickens? It's now legal in Cedar Rapids, but urban chicken keepers must complete a basic workshop. Rich Patterson and Rebecca Mumaw will facilitate this workshop that will detail the ins and outs of legally and successfully keeping hens in urban and suburban environments. Those who complete the workshop will receive a certificate of completion that meets the City of Cedar Rapids' requirements for keeping backyard hens. PUBLIC PROGRAM-12th ANNUAL HONEY FEST-1 TO 4 PM-$2/PERSON-ALL CHILDREN THREE YEARS AND YOUNGER: FREE-We're abuzzz with excitement over this year's activities! See bee-utiful art being created along the creek and try your hand at making some of your own! Play games, listen to music, bee amazed by the American Gothic-inspired bee beards. Author and scratchboard artist Claudia McGehee will bee signing her books from 1-3pm and helping with a special art project. Buy some honey-laced baked goods at our bee-licious bake sale! Enjoy this fun, educational, guided trail adventure in the woods and prairie to discover the source of nighttime sounds and sights.
